Ezetimibe Side Effects
Serious Ezetimibe Side Effects:
- Fever, headache, sore throat with a severe blistering, and red skin rash or pancreatitis (severe pain in your upper stomach that spreads to your back) and fast heart rate
- Chest pain, unusual muscle weakness, tenderness or pain.
- Nausea, stomach pain, low fever, dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), loss of appetite, or clay-colored stools.
Less Serious Ezetimibe Side Effects:
- Headache, tired feeling and depressed mood.
- Runny or stuffy nose (cold symptoms)
- Numbness or tingly feeling and cough.
- Mild stomach pain, diarrhea or joint pain, back pain.

Warnings
Be sure to tell your
doctor if you have ever had
unexplained muscle pain or
weakness. Also if you have ever had any liver problems such as
unexplained high liver enzymes or
active liver disease then
Ezetimibe is also not recommended.
Inform your healthcare provider if you
drink alcohol frequently before starting this medication.

Family planning:
Be sure to immediately tell you health care provider if you become
pregnant, are
breastfeeding, or are considering becoming pregnant while on this drug as it may be harmful to the fetus.
The FDA has assigned Ezetimibe as
pregnancy category C. So far there is
no controlled data showing fetal harm in human pregnancies, therefore the drug is only prescribed during pregnancy when the benefits out-weight the risk.

What is Ezetimibe?
Ezetimibe | Zetia reduces the amount of cholesterol that is absorbed by the body. It is used to treat those with high cholesterol and can be given with other cholesterol lowering medications.
How does Ezetimibe work?
Ezetimibe | Zetia works by blocking the absorption of cholesterol from the foods consumed daily.
Ezetimibe dosage
Ezetimibe recommended dosage for once a day is 10 mg with or without food to reduce cholesterol levels. It should be taken at the same time each day in order to keep an even level of medication in the body.
