March of 2008, the FDA required safety labeling changes to this drug to reflect the contraindications and adverse side effects of Ventolin HFA. The FDA also made revisions to the packaging and boxing of this drug to reflect those changes.
Ventolin HFA Treatment and Use
Ventolin HFA | Albuterol Sulfate is a drug that’s marketed by GlaxoSmithKline in the US that’s used as a short-acting β2-adrenergic agonist used for the relief of bronchospasm in conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This drug was first synthesized in 1968 and sold under the brand name Ventolin by Allen & Hanburys. This is an inhaler that’s meant to be used in quantities of 60 to 200 puffs and can be prescribed to children as young as 4 years of age. Each dosage of Ventolin HFA should provide relief for about 4 to 6 hours per patient.
It is worth noting that the precursor to Albuterol Sulfate is Salbutamol.
