Warnings & Recalls for Zanaflex

• No more than 3 doses of Zanaflex should be taken withing a 24-hour period, as an overdose of this medication can case serious liver damage.
• Patients who have taken Zanaflex for an extended period of time may experience withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness, increased heart rate, tremor, anxiousness, and increased spasticity after they stop using this medication. To decrease the risk of these symptoms, patients should not stop taking Zanaflex suddenly, and should instead taper their usage off over time after consulting with a doctor.
• Patients who take higher dosages of Zanaflex may experience thinking or reaction time impairment that can interfere with daily activities, such as driving.
• Zanaflex can cause conditions such as hypotension, hallucinations, or sedation.
• Changes can diet can cause changes in how Zanaflex is absorbed by the body, and patients should not radically alter what they eat, or when they eat while taking this medication.
• Zanaflex has received a pregnancy Category C, and should be used with caution and only as-needed in women who are pregnant.
