Actoplus MET Treatment and Use
Actoplus MET is a mixture of the two antihyperglycemic agents pioglitazone hydrochloride and metformin hydrochloride that is produced by Takeda Pharmaceuticals to treat type-2 diabetes.
Pioglitazone, one of Actoplus MET’s main ingredients, is a thiazolidinedione medication. This drug gives your body greater insulin sensitivity and in turn assists in lowering overall blood sugar.
Metformin, the other active ingredient in Actoplus MET, does a few things:
- It decreases the amount of glucose that your liver produces.
- It decreases the amount of sugar that your body absorbs from what you eat.
- It increases the sensitivity of your insulin receptors.
Actoplus MET Dosage
Actoplus MET comes as a coated tablet. The initial dosage is usually 15 mg/500 mg or 15 mg/850 mg once or twice daily. Your doctor will take many things into consideration before coming up with your specific dose of Actoplus MET.
