How does Amyvid work?
Amyvid is a radioactive compound that makes it easier to create images of the brain using a PET scan. These images show doctors if there is plaque build-up in the patient’s brain, which can be an indication of Alzheimer’s disease.
If a scan is negative, there is a good indication that the patient does not have Alzheimer’s at the time of the diagnosis.

Amyvid is a given in a single dose using an IV in the 30 to 50 minutes before a radiologic test.
