Arimidex | Anastrozole is a nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor manufactured by AstraZeneca as an oral tablet. Arimidex works by decreasing estrogen levels in the body, which effectively slows or halts the growth of certain types of breast cancer cells that feed on estrogen.
Arimidex | Anastrozole has been approved for the treatment of
- Early stage breast cancer in women who have gone through menopause when used with other treatments, like surgery or radiation
- Women who have early stage breast cancer that has spread, either within the breast or to other parts of the body
- Breast cancer which has worsened after taking the medication tamoxifen
