Aviane Treatment and Use
Aviane | Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol is a combination of hormones used as a contraceptive to prevent pregnancy. It will not prevent the transfer of sexually transmitted diseases, such as HIV and AIDS. You will need a condom to reduce your risk of contracting an STD. When taken properly, birth control pills have a relatively low rate of failure (less than 1% a year).
How does Aviane work?
Aviane prevents pregnancy in a number of ways. Primarily, it prevents ovulation, the release of an egg from a woman’s ovaries. It also alters cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to enter the uterus. I can also change the lining of the uterus, making it difficult for a for a fertilized egg achieve implantation.
Aviane Dosage Information
Aviane is to be taken once a daily for three weeks at a time followed by one week without a dose. This week gives your body time to develop a regular menstrual cycle.
Forgetting a pill can drastically increase your chances of becoming pregnant. If you forget to take a pill one day, you may take two pills the following day. If you happen to forget to take Aviane for two days in a row, take two pills for the next two days, then return to one a day.
You may need to use a secondary form of birth control when you first start taking Aviane to prevent pregnancy.
