Betaseron is produced through recombinant DNA techniques that involve fermenting a strain of the E. coli bacteria to create a man-made version of human interferon, which acts as the first line of defense against infections.
Betaseron | interferon beta-1b has been approved for the treatment of relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS) and its symptoms in order to reduce the frequency of episodes. Although Betaseron is approved to treat the frequency of symptoms of multiple sclerosis, it is not a cure for the disease.
