Serious Side Effects of BiDil
- Stop taking BiDil immediately and get medical attention if you feel pain in your chest, jaw, or left arm.
- If you experience numbness or tingling, talk to your doctor as soon as possible. This may be a sign that BiDil has caused a complication in your nerves.
- Talk to your doctor immediately if you faint, feel severely tired, have aching or swelling of your joints, develop a rash on your face, or see any unusual bruising or bleeding.
- After taking BiDil, if you notice a change in the amount of times you urinate, or have bloody or pink urine, talk to your doctor.
- If you observe any symptoms of an infection, like a fever or sore throat, call your doctor as soon as possible.

- Headaches may actually be a sign that BiDil is working for you. They are especially common toward the beginning of a BiDil treatment. Treat headaches with a pain reliever like acetaminophen.
- You may become lightheaded, dizzy or nauseous after taking BiDil. If these side effects become persistent, talk to your doctor. Do not do anything that requires your complete attention, such as driving, until you know how BiDil will effect you. Avoid alcohol while taking BiDil, it may dangerously lower your blood pressure.

- Older patients may have an increased sensitivity to the side effects of BiDil.
BiDil Treatment and Use
BiDil | Isosorbide Dinitrate and Hydralazine Hydrochloride is a medication that combines two types of drugs used to treat heart failure. It is typically use used in addition to other methods of treatment. BiDil has been approved by the FDA to treat congestive heart failure in African Americans, who have less effective responses to ACE inhibitors. A clinical trial that included only African American patients reported a 43% boost in survival rate. It may still provide the same benefits to groups of patients that have not been studied.
How does BiDil work?
BiDil is a vasodilator. These types of drugs function by relaxing part of the walls of the blood vessels, allowing them to relax and widen. This increases the heart’s ability to pump blood throughout the body, increasing blood flow and fighting the effects of heart failure.
BiDil Dosage Information
A typical BiDil dosage is taken three times a day, but can be adjusted based on the patient’s individual medical needs. You may start at a lower dose that gradually increases until you reach an effective dosage. To encourage taking this medication regularly, you should take it around the same time every day.
Do not stop BiDil treatment suddenly. You may need to gradually ween yourself off of the medication to prevent ill effects.
