- Signs of an allergic reaction to carisoprodol include hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
- Overdose symptoms include shallow breathing, vision problems, quickened heartbeat, confusion, visual hallucinations, muscle stiffness, fainting, and seizures.
- A rare and serious reaction may occur after the first dose. Symptoms include extreme weakness, inability to move legs or arms, shaky movements, pain in the joints, and changes in vision.

- Other prescription and nonprescription drowsy medications will intensify the side effects of carisoprodol. This includes allergy medication, cough or cold medicine, other muscle relaxants, sedatives, sleeping pills, and tranquilzers.
- Drowsiness and dizziness are increased by the consumption of alcohol
- Prilosec and Luvox may increase the side effects of carisoprodol by reducing the body's ability to process it effectively.
- St John's Wort and Rifadin increase the body's ability to process carisoprodol, reducing it's effectiveness.

How Does Carisoprodol Work?
Carisoprodol eases physical suffering by blocking painful sensations in the central nervous system between the nerves of the injured muscles and the brain. This provides relief from skeletal muscle strains and sprains.
Carisoprodol Dosage Information
Carisoprodol is an oral tablet typically taken three times a day and before bed. A typical daily dosage is between 250 mg and 350 mg. It should only be taken for short periods of time (up to three weeks) and not stopped suddenly to prevent withdrawal symptoms. To properly stop treatment, your doctor may prescribe gradually reducing doses.
Each dose should be taken will a full glass of water. To decrease the effects of nausea or upset stomach, tablets can be take with food or milk.
If you forget to take a dose, take one as soon as you remember unless it is near time for the next dose. Do not double your dose at any time.
