Cartia XT Treatment and Use
Cartia XT | Diltiazem Hydrochloride is a nondihydropyridine (non-DHP) drug of the classification of drugs known as calcium channel blockers, and is used for the treatment of hypertension, certain types of arrhythmias and angina pectoris. Non-FDA labeled indications for this drug are for the treatment or assistance with anal fissure, coronary artery bypass graft, diabetic nephropathy and disorders related to transplantation. This drug has also been proven effective against migraines. Cartia XT is available either as a capsule or intravenous infusion therapy, depending on the basis of what the drug is being administered for. Cartia XT is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals.
Cartia XT’s generic equivalent is being prescribed for cluster migraine headaches off-label and has shown tremendous promise as a prophylaxis. As it is known as a calcium channel antagonist, there’s ongoing research into seeing this certain drug classification’s potentiality to be a source of relief for migraines.
Cartia XT is also being researched into as a possible rehabilitation drug for withdrawal symptoms from the illicit street-drug cocaine.
