Claravis Side Effects
Claravis | Isotretinoin has been shown to cause common side effects, such as:

Warnings & Recalls for Claravis
Claravis and other isotretinoin medications have been associated with causing
inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn's disease, even in patients with no previous history of intestinal disease. If you experience any
abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, or severe diarrhea, stop taking Claravis immediately, and consult your doctor.Depression, psychosis, mood disturbances, and, in rare cases, suicidal thoughts, may occur while taking this medication. Patients should be carefully monitored by their doctor and friends or family for any signs of mood changes while taking this medication.Claravis should under no circumstances be taken by anyone who is pregnant or trying to become pregnant. This medication can cause
serious, life-threatening harm to a baby. Female patients must agree, in writing, to use two different forms of birth control and take regular pregnancy tests while using this medication.Claravis may cause an increased risk for increased pressure in the brain, which can cause
permanent loss of eyesight, and
death in rare cases.Serious skin reactions, such as
Stevens-Johnson syndrome and
toxic epidermal necrolysis, are associated with the use of isotretinoin medications. Patients should be closely monitored for severe skin reactions, as these reactions can results in hospitalization,
disability, and in rare cases,
death.Patients with either normal or elevated levels of triglycerides may suffer from
acute pancreatitis, or in some rare cases,
fatal hemorrhagic pancreatitis. If your triglyceride levels cannot be managed at a safe level, or if you experience symptoms of pancreatitis, stop taking Claravis and consult with your doctor.Claravis has also been shown to potentially cause other conditions, such as:
Claravis Treatment and Use
Claravis | Isotretinoin is a retinoid medication manufactured by Barr Laboratories as an oral capsule. Claravis is a vitamin A derivative which inhibits the production of sebum, a naturally produced facial oil. By decreasing the production of sebum, Claravis prevents pores from being clogged by oil. Claravis also assists the skin in renewing itself, which is vital as cystic acne can cause serious and permanent scarring.
Claravis | Isotretinoin has been indicated for the treatment of severe cystic acne that has not been improved after the use of other medications.
Claravis Dosage
The amount of Claravis prescribed is based on a patient’s body weight and the severity of acne. The recommended dosage range is 0.5 to 1 mg/kg daily, however patients with more serious conditions may require a dosage as great as 2 mg/kg daily. This medication should be taken with food for a period of 15 to 20 weeks.
Dosage may be adjusted in accordance to a patient’s response to treatment, or due to the amount of side effects.
