Clarinex Treatment and Use
Clarinex | Desloratadine belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. Clarinex was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in February of 2002 and is marketed by Value Pharmaceuticals for reducing allergy symptoms such as:
- runny nose or sneezing
- itchy nose or eyes
- watering of the eyes
Clarinex may also be prescribed for treating skin problems such as hives or rashes in patients with chronic skin allergic reactions.
How Does Clarinex Work?
Histamines in the body are responsible for binding to receptors and causing inflammation and other symptoms during an allergy. Clarinex works by keeping histamines from attaching to receptors, causing a reduction in swelling and other side effects of allergies.
Clarinex is not for patients under two years old unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor.
