Severe Side Effects of Dalmane
- Dalmane may cause Sleep Driving. See Warnings.
- Some patients taking Dalmane have experienced angiodema or severe swelling of the throat.
- Dalmane may cause severe central nervous system depression which may lead to coma and death.
- Hallucinations, severe anxiety, and other psychiatric events have been reported by some patients taking Dalmane.

Warnings & Recalls for Dalmane
Warnings
- Dalmane is a pregnancy category class D drug and is extremely harmful to take while pregnant. Dalmane has caused fetal deformations in animal tests.
- Tell your doctor if you are taking other central nervous system depressants. These include antihistamines such as Benadryl, barbiturates such as hydrocodone, or other benzodiazepenes such as Klonopin. Taking these drugs while taking Dalmane may cause further central nervous system depression and potentially cause respiratory problems, lowered heart rate, and coma.
- Alcohol may further depress the central nervous system while taking Dalmane.
- If insomnia has not subsided within 7 to 10 days of using Dalmane, this may be a sign of an underlying psychiatric problem or possible illness. Notify your doctor if Dalmane does not work for you within this time frame.
- Instances of "Sleep Driving" have been reported by some patients taking Dalmane. This is when the patient is in a hypnotic or half-asleep state and drives or undergoes other risky activities. If this or any other involuntary, dangerous behavior happens to you while taking Dalmane, discontinue use immediately.
- Dalmane may cause the patient to prepare food, have sex, or making phone calls while not being aware of these activities.
- Do not take Dalmane while driving or undergoing any potentially dangerous task.
- Dalmane is not meant for patients under 15 years old.
- Dalmane may be habit forming.
- Do not take Dalmane while taking Nizoral and Diflucan.
Dalmane Treatment and Use
Dalmane | Flurazepam is a benzodiazepine primarily prescribed for insomnia. It is often used to correct sleep cycles and poor sleep patterns. Dalmane is for short term insomnia problems and is not meant to be taken for over 28 days. Dalmane is marketed by Valeant Pharmaceuticals and Roche Pharmaceuticals.
What does Dalmane do?
Dalmane works to sedate the central nervous system, lower anxiety, and cause muscle relaxation which may help the patient sleep.
Dosage
The initial recommended dosage for Dalmane is 30 mg right before going to bed for the evening. For medically compromised and geriatric patients, 15 mg of Dalmane should be taken before going to bed. Dalmane is available as 15 mg and 30 mg capsules.
