Delsym Treatment and Use
Delsym | Dextromethorphan is an over-the-counter antitussive that offers temporary relief from coughs that are symptoms of the common cold, flu and other diseases. Delsym only soothes the coughing; it does not cure the cause of the coughs. It also should not be used to treat coughing from smoking or chronic respiratory diseases such as emphysema or asthma. It is marketed by Reckitt Benckiser and is the first–and only–FDA approved cough suppressant.
How does Delsym work?
Delsym works by impeding activity in the part of the brain that causes the coughing reflex.
