Dextroamphetamine Treatment and Use
Dextroamphetamine is used in part of a program of treatment which is used to control some symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. ADHD symptoms include difficulty focusing, controlling actions, or even remaining still and quiet. Dextroamphetamine is also used in the treatment of sleeping disorder narcolepsy.
Dextroamphetamine is in a class of medications known as central nervous system stimulants. It works by changing amounts of certain natural substances that are found inside the brain.
Ask your doctor what dosage is right for you. The medication comes as a liquid, tablet and even an extended release capsule which is taken orally. You must take it 2 to 3 times a day, or as prescribed. It can be taken either with or without food, at your discretion. Do not take it in the evening because it will make it difficult for you to go to sleep.
