Dyazide | hydrochlorothiazide and triamterene has been shown to cause common side effects, such as:

Dyazide has been shown to elevate potassium levels, particularly in patients who are diabetic, elderly, or suffer from a serious illness or kiney disease. Potassium levels should be monitored regularly, as untreated high potassium levels can be fatal.While taking Dyazide, patients should avoid unprotected exposure to sunlight and UV rays, high-sodium diets, becoming dehydrated or overheated, or drinking alcohol.Patients who suffer from the following conditions should
not use this medication:
- kidney disease
- urination problems
- high levels of potassium in their blood

Dyazide Treatment and Use
Dyazide | hydrochlorothiazide and triamterene is a diuretic medication manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline as a capsule. Dyazide prevents water retention, and signals the kidneys to flush excess water and sodium from the body through urine. This helps patients maintain a healthy potassium balance, and prevents the body from absorbing too much sodium.
Dyazide | hydrochlorothiazide and triamterene has been indicated for treatment of the following:
- High blood pressure or edema in patients who develop potassium deficiency from using only hydrochlorothiazide.
- Patients who need a thiazide diuretic, and who cannot be at-risk for the development of potassium deficiency.
- Alone or in addition to other antihypersensitive medications(such as beta-blockers)
Dyazide should not be used for the initial treatment of high blood pressure or edema in patients who cannot be at-risk for potassium deficiency.
Dyazide Dosage
The typical dosage of Dyazide is one to two capsules given once, daily. Each capsule contains 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide and 37.5 mg triamterene.
