Stop taking Dyrenium and get medical attention if you experience numbness, pain or weakness of the muscles, irregular heartbeat, or difficulty breathing normally.
Contact your doctor if you begin to urinate less than usual. Especially if you do not urinate at all.
If you experience unexplained drowsiness, light-headedness, become restless, become confused, or have tremors, talk to your doctor immediately.
Get medical attention if you have severe nausea, pain in the abdomen, a fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, and clay-colored stools.

Dyrenium may cause you to have dry mouth, mild nausea, or vomiting. It may also cause diarrhea.
Taking this medication may cause you to become dizzy or get a headache. Do not drive or do other things that may require your full attention until you know how it will effect you.

Potassium-sparing compounds like Dyrenium may increase the potassium in your body to a serious level. Patients who have kidney disease or diabetes have a higher risk of this happening. This risk is also increased in elderly and patients who are currently severely ill. These elevated levels may become fatal if they are not corrected.

Dyrenium Warnings

Do not take Dyrenium with other medications that have triamterene.
Avoid exposure to the sun. This medication may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have a history of diabetes, heart or liver disease, gout, or kidney stones.
You should not take Dyrenium if you have a kidney complication or have difficulty urinating, a severe liver disorder, have high levels of potassium, or are taking potassium supplements.
Do not combine this medication with any other potassium-sparing diuretics.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Dyrenium. It may intensify some of the negative side effects.
If you are pregnant, or breast-feeding do not take Dyrenium. Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while taking this medication.

Dyrenium | Triamterene is a water pill that is used to treat edema caused by a variety of conditions including congestive heart failure, kidney diseases, liver cirrhosis, and steroid use. This medication allows the body to get rid of excess water and sodium without losing potassium. When used with other diuretics, Dyrenium can be used as a treatment for high blood pressure.

How does Dyrenium work?

Dyrenium increases your body’s need to urinate. This gives the body more opportunity to get rid of excess salt and water. This decreases edema (swelling) in the arms, legs, and abdomen. It also clears fluids within the lungs, allowing the patient to breathe more easily.

Dyrenium Dosage Information

Dyrenium is taken orally either once or twice a day with water after a full meal. To avoid sleep interruption to use the bathroom, it is suggested that Dyrenium is taken during the daytime.

While taking Dyrenium, reduce your salt intake and do not consume more potassium than usual. Bananas and orange juice are sources high in potassium.

A gradual decrease of dosage may be required. If you stop taking this medication suddenly, your may experience a worsening in condition.
