Black Box Warning
Talk to your doctor about the risks of this medication if you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant. Erivedge can cause your baby to be stillborn or have severe birth defects. Males who are taking Erivedge should always use a condom with spermicide when having sex, and should continue to do so until two months after their final dose in order to avoid exposing their female partners to Erivedge.
General Erivedge Warnings
Do not donate blood or platelets while you are on Erivedge and for seven months after your last dose.

Erivedge | Vismodegib is a hedgehog pathway inhibitor that is used to treat advanced cases of basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer. It is typically prescribed to adult patients who are ineligible for surgery or radiation treatment. Erivedge is marketed by Genentech and was approved for use in 2012.

Dosage
Erivedge is available in a 150 milligram capsule form and is taken by mouth once per day, with or without food. Patients are advised to swallow the capsules whole; do not chew them or crush them into pieces.
