Exforge Treatment and Use
What is Exforge?
Exoforge is for patients whose high blood pressure (hypertension) can’t effectively be controlled on a certain medication, and can also be used as an initial therapy for those with dangerously high blood pressure. Exoforge contains a combination of amlodipine and valsartan.
How does Exforge work?
The amlodipine component is a calcium channel blocker that works by relaxing the muscles of your heart and blood vessels. Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that keeps blood vessels from narrowing which in turn lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow.
Dosage information
Exforge should be taken as prescribed by a doctor, without increasing or decreasing doses without consulting with a physician. Take Exforge with a full glass of water (8 ounces), with or without food. Exforge is available in (amlodipine/valsartan) 5 mg/80 mg, 5 mg/160 mg, and 10 mg/160 mg forms.
