Floxin Treatment and Use
Floxin | Ofloxacin Otic is a medication used as a treatment for outer ear infections, middle ear infections in patents with perforated eardrums, and middle ear infections in pediatric patients with ear tubes. In can also be used to treat other bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections. Gonorrhea and chlamydia can also be cleared by Floxin, but it is not recommended to treat syphilis.
How does Floxin Work?
Floxin is an antibotic classified as a quinolone. It prevents the bacteria from being able to multiply by reducing their reproductive ability. This eventually kills off all the bacteria, clearing the patient of infection.
Floxin Dosage Information
Floxin is typically taken one or two times daily for one or two weeks. Your doctor may adjust your dosage based on the severity of your condition. You should only use the amount of medication prescribed to you, no more and no less.
Even if your condition starts to improve before your dosage in complete, you should use Floxin for the fully prescribed time. If you stop taking it too soon, the infection may not be completely cleared.
Before dripping the solution into your ears, warm the solution by holding the container for a few minutes. After applying the solution, you should stay lying down for a few minutes.
