Hectorol shouldn’t be administered to patients who’ve got a tendency towards hypercalcemia or who exhibit current evidence of vitamin D toxicity.As of yet, there hasn’t been any safety guidelines from the FDA initiated in the form of labeling changes or a recall by the FDA because Hectorol has been deemed to be an unsafe drug. There also hasn’t been a voluntary recall by Sanofi-Aventis either.
Hectorol Treatment and Use
Hectorol | Doxercalciferol is a drug that’s meant to be taken for metabolic bone disease and hyperparathyroidism in patients with Stage 3 or 4 chronic kidney disease. It consists of a synthetic analog of ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and suppresses parathyroid synthesis and secretion. Hectorol can come in injectable form or capsule form and is manufactured by Sanofi-Aventis.
