Serious side effects of Juvisync
- allergic reactions like hives, difficult breathing, swelling anywhere in the face
- muscle pain, tenderness/weakness, unusual tiredness/drowsiness
- fever, confusion and memory problems
- swelling or weight gain, dark urine and a decrease/increase in urination
- abdominal pain that spreads to the back with nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and weight loss
- being thirsty/hungry with dry mouth, fruity breath, and clay colored stools
- skin reactions like burning in the eyes, skin pain, itching dry skin, red/purple spreading rash that blisters and peels, jaundice (yellow skin)
- fast heart rate with blurred vision and sore throat, and a deficiency of glucose in the blood
- breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue leading to kidney failure, and pancreatitis

- mild abdominal pain with little nausea and constipation and diarrhea
- upper respiratory infections with headaches
- back pains and joint/muscle pains
Warnings & Recalls for Juvisync
Patients should not use Juvisync if they have diabetic high key-tone levels, or if they are allergic to Juvisync or any of its ingredients (anhydrous dibasic calcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, sodium stearyl fumarate, magnesium stearate, ascorbic acid, citric acid monohydrate, lactose monohydrate, pre-gelatinized corn starch, butylated hydroxyanisole, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, talc, titanium dioxide, red iron oxide, yellow iron oxide, black iron oxide, sitagliptin and simvastatin).Before taking Juvisync, patients should tell their doctor of any thyroid or pancreatitis problems, liver or kidney disease, if they are of Chinese descent or if they indulge in more than 2 drinks of alcohol a day.Patients should be aware the Juvisync is to be used in conjunction with low-cholesterol diet and exercise so that it may work properly.Patients should check blood sugar regularly and carefully as stress, illness, traveling, exercising, drinking alcohol and skipping meals may affect these levels.Juvisync should not be used to treat type 1 diabetes or key-tone related deficiencies. Contraindications:Contraindications include cyclosporine, danazol, gemofibrozil, nefazodone, antibiotics, antifungal medications, hepatitis C mediations, HIV/AIDS medications, amiodarone, amlodipine, diltiazem, ranolazine, verapamil, colchicine, digoxin, blood thinners, fenofibrate or fenofibric acid, medications with niacin, any statin medications, probenecid, NSAIDs, aspirin, sulfa drugs, MAOIs, beta-blockers, and other diabetes medications.Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may also be contraindications with side effects. Patients are recommended to not drink any grapefruit juice, or are not to exceed 1 quart of grapefruit juice a day.Family Planning:Women who are trying to conceive should discontinue Juvisync.Juvisync has been labeled by the FDA as pregnancy category X, meaning that it can cause fetal damage. Patients should most definitely not take this drug while pregnant.It is unknown if Juvisync passes into breast milk therefore nursing women on Juvisync should not breast feed.

What is Juvisync?
Juvisync | simvastatin and sitagliptin is used to treat type 2 diabetes in patients with high cholesterol and triglycerides. It is also used to lower the risk of strokes, heart attacks and complications in patients with diabetes and coronary heart disease.
How does Juvisync work?
Juvisync works by lowering levels of LDL Cholesterol and triglycerides in the patient’s blood while increasing level of HDL cholesterol. Juvisync also controls blood sugar levels and regulates insulin in the body after the consumption of food. It should be used in conjunction with diet and exercise.
Dosage information for Juvisync
The dosages for Juvisync tablets are 100 mg/10 mg, 100 mg/20 mg, and 100 mg/40 mg. The starting dose of Juvisync is normally 100 mg/40 mg once in the evening but the amount a patient will receive will be determined by their physician.
Tablets are for oral consumption, and are not to be crushed or chewed.
