Contraindications
Klor-Con | Potassium Chloride is contraindicated in the following patients:
- Patients who take anticholinergic agents
- Cardiac patients who display esophageal compression
- Concurrent use with pharmacological agents that display anticholinergic effects
- Structural or pathological conditions which cause gastrointestinal tract passage restrictions or delay
- Patients with overactive hyperkalemia are at risk of cardiac arrest
Who Should Not Take This Drug
Klor-Con | Potassium Chloride should never be taken by patients with these preexisting conditions:
- Acidosis or alkalosis patients especially those with renal or cardiac diseases
- Systemic acidosis
- Adrenal insufficiency
- Burn patients
- Concurrent use with ACE inhibitors
- Concurrent use with potassium-sparing diuretics
- Acute dehydration
- Gastrointestinal ulcers or stenotic lesions
- Metabolic acidosis
- Impaired potassium excretion
- Renal failure
- Extensive tissue breakdown
Klor-Con Treatment and Use
Klor-Con | Potassium Chloride is a drug that’s prescribed to treat hypokalemia, digitalis poisoning and is known to replenish electrolytes. It has other uses in mining, industrial uses and interestingly is diluted with the injection used for capital punishment. The synthesis of this particular drug is manufactured and marketed by the drug company Upsher-Smith Laboratories.
Klor-Con | Potassium Chloride comes as a tablet to take orally but potassium chloride can also be administered intravenously under a different synthesis.
How This Drug Works
Klor-Con replenishes electrolytes, actively participates in many physiological processes of the body including nerve impulse transmissions, and maintains of normal kidney function as well as intracellular toning. It has been shown aiding contractions of cardiac, skeletal and smooth muscle processes in the human body.
