Lialda Treatment and Use
Lialda | Mesalamine is an anti-inflammatory agent manufactured by Shire US, Inc. as an oral delayed-release tablet. It is unknown exactly how Lialda works, but it is thought to to decrease inflammation, treat diarrhea, and heal tissue damage by interfering with the production of a certain chemical in the body which causes these symptoms.
Lialda | Mesalamine has been indicated for the treatment of
- Induction of remission in adults with active, mild to moderate ulcerative colitis
- Maintenance of remission of ulcerative colitis
Lialda is not a cure for ulcerative colitis, and should only be used for the treatment of symptoms. For this medication to be effective, it must be used consistently.
