Lumigan Side Effects
Lumigan | Bimatoprost Ophthalmic has been shown to cause common side effects, such as:
- eye redness, dryness, or itching
- increased eyelash growth
- feeling of having something in your eye
- headache
- increased tear production
Lumigan may also cause more serious side effects, such as:
- darkening of the eyelid, eye color, or whites of eyes
- discharge in the eye or eyelid
- inflammation, irritation, pain, or swelling around the eyes
- severe eye fatigue
- vision changes
- increase sensitivity to light
Inform your doctor right away if you experience any serious side effects, or if common symptoms persist.
Warnings & Recalls for Lumigan
Lumigan should not be used while a patient is wearing contact lenses, as this medication can be absorbed by soft lenses and cause complications. Remove your contacts before applying this medication, and wait 15 minutes after application before reinserting the lenses.Some patients have noticed a progressive increase in brown pigment in the eye, eye lash, and eye lid. These changes may occur slowly, and become permanent.Cases of
macular edema have been reported in patients using Lumigan, and should be used with caution in patients who suffer from
aphakia or torn posterior lens capsule, or patients with a history of macular edema.
Bacterial keratitis may occur if a patient inadvertently contaminates this medication. Do not allow the Lumigan dropper to touch the eyes, hands, or any other surface, as this infection can cause serious damage to the eye that can lead to vision loss.It is unknown what effects Lumigan can have on an unborn child, or a child who is breastfeeding, so consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Lumigan | Bimatoprost Ophthalmic is a prostaglandin medication manufactured by Allergan as a solution which is applied to the eye. Lumigan works to decrease intraocular pressure, and allows fluid within the eye to drain properly.

Lumigan may be used in conjunction with other topical opthalmic medications, however each medication should be distributed at least 5 minutes apart.
