Namenda Treatment and Use
Namenda for Alzheimer’s Disease
Namenda | memantine is an NMDA receptor antagonist made by Eisai Co., Ltd., that is used to treat the symptoms of moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease. This medication has not shown great efficacy in treating the symptoms of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s.
It is sometimes recommended that Namenda be taken in combination with the drug Aricept. These drugs work on the symptoms of Alzheimers in different ways. A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that this type of combination therapy, after 24 weeks of treatment, improved measures of cognition and brain function.
It should be noted that although Namenda | memantine treats the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, it does not cure it, nor does it reverse existing damage.
