Warnings & Recalls for Oracea
- Do not use tanning beds and avoid too much exposure to sunlight when taking Oracea for rosacea.
- Oracea should not be used by neither men nor women who are trying to have children.
- This drug can cause pseudomembranous colitis. If you develop watery stools while taking Oracea, you should see your doctor.
- Oracea may make oral contraceptives less effective.
- Taking antibiotics on a regular basis raises the risk of superinfection, an overgrowth of resistant bacteria or fungi. If this occurs, treatment with Oracea should be stopped.
Oracea Treatment and Use
Oracea | doxycycline is a drug produced by Galderma that is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory lesions of the condition known as rosacea in adult patients. This drug is a member of a class of medicines called tetracycline antibiotics. These work by preventing bacteria from growing and spreading. Usually, tetracyclines are indicated for the treatment of infections, but in the case of the low doses of doxycycline that Oracea capsules contain, this is not an indication.
Off-label, Oracea | doxycycline for rosacea may be used for various other conditions as indicated by a physician. It should be noted that Oracea is not indicated by the FDA for any of these.
Oracea dosage
- Oracea comes as a capsule that is to be taken once a day in the morning. This drug should be taken on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after you have breakfast.
- Don’t lie down immediately after taking Oracea
- Your doctor may have extra directions for you to follow while undergoing treatment with Oracea. Be sure to follow these completely.
