- Cardiovascular side effects such as pericarditis, in which the sac-cover of the heart becomes inflamed
- Gastrointestinal side effects such as pancreatitis, in which the pancreas is inflamed, and rectal bleeding
- Hematological side effects such as agranulocytosis which is a failure of the bone marrow to make a sufficient amount of white blood cells, aplastic anemia which is a failure of the bone marrow to replenish new blood cells, leukopenia and neutropenia which are conditions of a decreased number of white blood cells, pancytopenia which is a deficiency of all types of blood cells, and thrombocytopenia which means low platelet count
- Hepatic side effects such as cholestatic hepatitis- which means that bile from the stomach cannot flow to the duodenum. May also cause chemical driven liver damage, and liver failure
- Immunological side effects such as a hypersensitivity reaction
