Warnings & Recalls for Phenytek

Tell your doctor about the following before taking Phenytek | phenytoin:
- diabetes
- liver disease
- porphyria
- swollen lymph nodes
- if you are pregnant, nursing, or think you may be pregnant
- allergies to any food or medication, even over the counter drugs
- if you are taking any herbal supplements.
Do not take this medication together with antacids. Allow some time between taking these.

Do not consume large amounts of alcohol while taking this medication.

Phenytoin was one of the first seizure medications created (1938) and has been widely used since its inception. Phenytek is a once a day formulation of phenytoin that is used to help people with epilepsy control their seizures and was approved by the FDA in 2001.

Phenytek | phenytoin works by decreasing the abnormal electrical activity in the brain that is believed to cause seizures and seizure disorder. It is also used off-label to control irregular heartbeat as well as migraines.
