Prevnar 13 Treatment and Use
Prevnar 13 | pneumococcal conjugate vaccine is a vaccine used to protect children against infections caused by the bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae. This particular strain of bacteria is resistant to a majority of older vaccinations, making Prevnar 13 the greatest line of defense against infections such as meningitis, pneumonia, and other invasive diseases.
Prevnar 13 is an intramuscular injection that has been approved for the use of children and adults over the age of 50. In children, Prevnar is injected at two months, four months, six months, and between 12 and 15 months of age.
