ProAir HFA Treatment and Use
ProAir HFA | albuterol inhalation is a rescue inhaler made by Teva Respiratory, LLC. It is an inhaler that contains albuterol for asthma and other lung diseases. This drug is indicated for persons 4 years of age or older for the treatment of:
- Asthma
- Exercise-induced bronchospasm
- COPD
ProAir HFA is used to prevent the wheezing, tightness of chest, and breathing difficulties associated with the above conditions. It works similarly to Symbicort in that it relaxes and opens up the airways to prevent the asphyxiation that may come in the event of a severe adverse respiratory event. The difference is that ProAir HFA | albuterol is a rescue inhaler in that it is FDA approved to treat acute asthma attacks.
How does ProAir HFA work?
When you have an asthma attack, the tightness of chest and shortness of breath that you feel is a result of your airways constricting due to an overactive inflammatory response in your respiratory system.
Albuterol, the active ingredient of ProAir HFA, works to relax the muscles in your air passages to both allow you to breathe more easily and prevent you from being asphyxiated by your own inflammatory response.
