• Tell your doctor if you have Netherton's Syndrome before beginning treatment with Protopic ointment.
• Do not use Protopic ointment for extended periods of time
• In 2005 the FDA released a public health advisory to warn of the possible link between Protopic and cancer and in 2006 Protopic was given a black box warning.
• Avoid excessive ultraviolet exposure while being treated with Protopic ointment.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant, or are considering becoming pregnant before using Protopic ointment.

Protopic Treatment and Use

Protopic | tacrolimus is a topical calcineurin inhibitor marketed by Astrellas and used to treat eczema and related forms of dermatitis.

Protopic comes in ointment form and is available in a 0.1% (for adults and children 15 years and older) and 0.03% (for children 2-15 years old) strengths. The smallest amount possible is to be used on the eczema affected skin areas.

Do not bathe or swim shortly after applying Protopic | tacrolimus ointment as this may wash off the medication.
