Serious Side Effects of Relpax
- Some fatal cardiac events have been reported with the use of 5-HT1 agonists. Many have been reported in patients with risk factors of coronary artery disease. These events include
- Artery vasospasm
- Transient myocardial ischemia
- Myocardia infarction
- Ventricular tachycardia
- Ventricular fibrillation
- Overdoses of Relpax may cause high blood pressure. Signs of this include blurred vision, trouble speaking, anxiety, confusion, loss of balance, shortness of breath, heart arrhythmia, and seizures.
Common Side Effects of Relpax
- Relpax may commonly cause milder headaches, dizziness, weakness, sleepiness, and feelings of pressure in any part of the body.
- Patients using this medication are also likely to experience nausea, cramps, or dry mouth, as well as warmth, redness, or tingling under the skin.

General Relpax Warnings
- Do not take Relpax if you have heart disease, history of stroke, uncontrolled blood pressure, high cholesterol, transient ischemic attacks, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, or severe liver problems.
- You should not take Relpax if your migraines cause temporary paralysis on one side of the body or cause loss of balance or slurred speech.
Relpax Drug Interactions
- Do not take Relpax within 72 hours of taking Nizoral, Sporanox, Serzone, TAO, Biaxin, Norvir, and Viracept.
- Triptans like Relpax can cause serotonin syndrome, especially when administered with some medications used to treat depression. this includes SSRIs and SNRIs.
- Relpax may be affected by antibiotics, antidepressants, antifungal medications, heart or blood pressure medicines, and HIV/AIDS medication.
Relpax Treatment and Use
Relpax | eletriptan HBr is a selective serotonin receptor agonist used to treat adult migraines and migraine symptoms after they occur. It belongs to the triptan group of medications.
How does Relpax work?
Relpax narrows the blood vessels that are dilated in the brain during migraines. It also decreases a number of triggers in the body that induce headaches, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound. This medication does not prevent future migraines and is only to be used once a migraine has set in.
Relpax Dosage Information
Once a migraine headache occurs, take a single dose (one tablet) of Relpax with a glass of liquid. If the migraine symptoms return or persist after 2 hours you may take a second tablet. Do not take more than two doses within 24 hours.
