Soma and Drug Abuse
Patients who used Soma for prolonged periods of time may be at risk for symptoms of drug dependence and withdrawal. This is especially likely in patients with a history of abuse or addiction, or who take other CNS depressants. Do not use Soma for a period of more than 2 to 3 weeks, and avoid alcohol during treatment.Soma may have an effect similar to that of a sedative, and should be used with caution in patients who operate machinery or drive a motorized vehicle.

Soma | Carisoprodol are:
- Acute abdominal conditions
- Abrupt discontinuation may result in withdrawal symptoms
- Increased risk of drug abuse to addiction-prone patients
- Bilary duct or pancreatic disease which can cause spasms of the sphincter of Oddi or reduce bilary or pancreatic secretions
- Concurrent use with alcohol should be avoided
- Concurrent use with CNS depressants
- Concurrent use with meprobamate should be avoided
- COPD, restrictive lung disease, decreased respiratory drive and/or respiratory depression which leads to an increased risk of further decreased respiratory function
- Dehydration which can lead to an increased risk of hypotension
- If the patient is elderly or debilitated
- Serious gastrointestinal adverse events such as ulceration, bleeding, or perforation of stomach or intestines which can result in possible fatality
- Serious head injury during which opioids may obscure the clinical course
- Hepatic impairment
- Large initial doses in opioid non-tolerant patients can lead to respiratory depression
- Renal impairment
- Seizures

Soma Treatment and Use
Soma | Carisoprodol is a centrally-acting muscle relaxant medication that is used to relieve pain that is caused by certain musculoskeletal conditions, such as injury-related muscles spasms or back pain. Soma is most effective when used during physical therapy or periods of rest or limited physical activity. This drug is manufactured and marketed in the U.S. by the company Meda Pharmaceuticals. Soma | Carisoprodol is available by itself or can come mixed with aspirin, and in a particular combination with caffeine and codeine too.
How Does Soma Work?
Soma works to relax muscles by interfering with the reception of pain signals between the brain and nervous system. This prevents feelings of discomfort caused by injuries, and provides patients with relief.
Soma Dosage Information
The dosing for Soma | Carisoprodol for adults and minors over the age of 16 is 250mg to 350mg orally 3 times in a day and once before going to bed. Soma should not be used for extended periods of time, and treatment is based on the patient’s response to the medication, as well as the condition the patient is being treated for.
Do not take Soma for longer than your doctor has suggested, and do not take more Soma than prescribed. These actions will not cause Soma to act more quickly or more powerfully, and will only increase the risk of potentially serious side effects.
