- Patients taking TriCor should not drink alcohol, as it can raise fatty acid levels, and potentially cause damage to your liver.
- A rare, but serious, side effect may occur in the muscles, and patients suffering from abnormal muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness accompanied with flu-like feeling, should immediately contact their healthcare physician.
- TriCor has received a pregnancy Category C label, as it is unknown whether this medication can be harmful to an unborn baby, or whether it ca be passed through breast milk.
Tricor Treatment and Use
TriCor | Fenofibrate is an antilipemic agent manufactured by Abbott Laboratories as an oral tablet. Tricor works to reduce cholesterol and fatty acids in the blood, and blocks the liver from producing too many fatty acids.
TriCor | Fenofibrate has been approved for the following uses, when used in conjunction with a healthy diet
- Lower triglycerides, or fatty acids
- Increase good cholesterol (HDL)
- Decrease bad cholesterol (LDL)
TriCor has not been shown to diminish the risk of heart problems in patients suffering from type 2 diabetes.
