pregnancy Category C medicine. The effect of Tylenol with Codeine #3 on the fetus is unknown, however it could result in
breathing disorders or
addiction and
withdrawal symptoms in a newborn.
Avoid breastfeeding while taking Tylenol with Codeine #3, as this drug may pass through breast-milk and cause serious harm to a nursing baby.
Do not take Tylenol with Codeine #3 without first discussing with your doctor the risks and benefits of using this medicine if you are
pregnant or
breastfeeding.
General Warnings
Patients who are allergic to any ingredient in Tylenol with Codeine #3 should not use it as a treatment for pain. Let your doctor know about

Avoid taking other medicine that may cause you to become sleepy. When combined with codeine, it may cause serious fatigue. Let your doctor know about
all medicines you are taking, particularly:
- cold and allergy drugs

How Does Tylenol with Codeine #3 Work?
Tylenol with Codeine #3 relieves pain by attaching to receptors in the central nervous system and interfering with signals of pain. This results in a feeling of numbness throughout the body, as Tylenol #3 does not target pain.
How to Take Tylenol with Codeine#3
Tylenol with Codeine #3 is available in oral suspension (liquid) and tablet form. This medicine should be taken with a meal or a glass of milk to reduce symptoms of an upset stomach. Tablets should be swallowed whole. If you are using oral suspension form, be sure to pour the correct amount into the proper dose-measuring device.
Tylenol with codeine #3 tablets should be taken in 15 to 60 mg of codeine and 300 to 1000 mg of acetaminophen doses to treat moderate to moderately severe pain.
Liquid form should be taken for reducing mild to moderate pain. It is recommended that adults take 15 mL or 1 tablespoon of Tylenol with Codeine #3.
Tylenol with Codeine #3 should be taken once every 4 hours until pain is relieved. No more than 360 mg of codeine and 4000 mg of acetaminophen should be taken in 24 hours unless instructed to do so by your doctor. Dosage for children should be determined by a doctor. Use only the amount prescribed to you to avoid serious liver damage or a withdrawal.
Your doctor may suggest that you drink between 6 to 8 glasses of water each day to prevent constipation. Do not use any other products to prevent constipation without consulting your doctor.
