Uribel Side Effects
Serious side effects
- rapid pulse and heart rate with shortness of breath/trouble breathing
- severe dizziness and blurred vision, with drowsiness and confusion
- excretory problems like difficult and painful urination as well as discolored urine and feces
- signs of an allergic reaction including hives/rashes, swollen face and throat and severe shortness of breath
- regression symptoms such as burning urination and bladder spasms
Common side effects
- mild dizziness and drowsiness with flushing of the skin
- gastrointestinal problems such as dry mouth, nausea, vomiting and constipation
- abdominal discomfort like pelvic and back pains with yeast infections
- mood changes such as agitation, confusion and feeling excited/restless
Warnings & Recalls for Uribel
Uribel does not treat urinary tract infections but merely relieves the symptoms of it.
Patients with pupil dilation or eye drop medication should tell their doctor before using Uribel.
Uribel should not be used in patients allergic to it or any of its ingredients: phenyl salicylate, hyoscyamine sulfate, methenamine, methylene blue and sodium phosphate monobasic.
Patients who have had cardiac disease, gastrointestinal problems, muscle weakness, heart problems, history of glaucoma, enlarged prostates, bladder or stomach ulcer obstructions, or any allergies to belladonna should make these conditions known to their physician as they may cause complications.
Contraindications:
Contraindications include ketoconazole, antimuscarinics, antimyasthenics, opioids, thiazide diuretics, urinary alkalinizers, antacids, antidiarrheals, MAOIs, belladonna alkaloids, caffeine, sulfonamides, atropine, benztropine, dimenhydrinate, bronchodilators, glycopyrrolate, homatropine, methantheline, neostigmine, pyridostigmine, bladder or urinary medications, Alzheimer's medications, narcotics, ulcer or irritable bowel syndrome medications and sulfa drugs.
Sodium bicarbonate, potassium citrate, sodium citrate and citric acid, and sodium citrate and potassium are all contraindicated.
Family Planning:
It is unknown if Uribel causes fetal harm therefore pregnant patients should weigh the benefits and risks of taking the medication with a doctor. Uribel should only be taken if the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the child.
It is not known whether Uribel passes into the breast milk therefore nursing mothers should be advised to not take Uribel while breastfeeding unless specified to do so by a doctor.

What is Uribel?
Uribel is used for the treatment of symptoms associated with urinary tract infections like frequent urination, pain/discomfort when urinating and spasms in the urinary tract.
How does it work?
Uribel contains hyoscyamine, methenamine/methylene blue and phenyl salicylate. All these ingredients work together to reduce the discomforting symptoms of urinary tract infections.
Hyoscyamine is a muscle relaxer that alleviates the body of spasms in the urinary tract, methenamine/methylene blue (antibiotic/antiseptic) fight bacteria in the urine and bladder and phenyl salicylate is a pain reliever and makes urine more acidic.
Uribel Dosage Information
Patients are recommended to take one capsule, four times a day with plenty of water.
