Zetia Treatment and Use
Zetia | ezetimibe is a drug produced by Merck, that together with diet and exercise modifications, and sometimes certain other medications, is used to help lower cholesterol that your body takes in from the diet that you consume.
How does Zetia work?
Zetia | ezetimibe is the first drug of its kind ever produced. It works by blocking the absorption of cholesterol from the foods we consume on a day to day basis. This is unlike the more common cholesterol reducing statin drugs such as Lipitor or Plavix that work by inhibiting a certain liver enzyme vital to the production of cholesterol.
Zetia dosage
For the reduction of cholesterol levels, Zetia | ezetimibe is to be taken once a day with or without food.
If you are taking any of the following medications, you should wait at least four hours after taking them before you take Zetia:
- Mevacor
