Reminyl Treatment and Use
Reminyl | Galantamine is a drug that is prescribed for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease and other memory impairment conditions, particularly those of the vascular origin. It is derived from an alkaloid obtained from bulbs and flowers of the Galanthus Caucasicus, Galanthus woronowii, Narcissus, Leucojum and Lycoris plants. This is a drug that had first been synthesized in modern medicine in the Soviet Union in the 1950s due to popular folk remedies in Eastern Europe that had had an established effectiveness.
Reminyl | Galantamine had been used throughout the territories of the Soviet Union for various indications for myopathy, myasthenia, and sensory or motor dysfunction associated with the central nervous system. In the US, Reminyl | Galantamine had been approved for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
How does Reminyl work?
Reminyl | Galantamine is a reversible and competitive acetylcholinesterase inhibitor that has a largely unknown mechanism of action. It is suggested that Reminyl | Galantamine improves cholinergic functionality by increasing acetylcholine levels, which, in a reverse fashion, inhibits the neurotransmitters of a patient’s brain.
Dosage Information
The dosage of Reminyl | Galantamine depends largely upon the range of severity of Alzheimer’s a patient displays as well as the level of dementia attached to it.
