Compound Prescription Recall!

All Sterile Human and Veterinary Presriptions Distributed by Franck’s Pharmacy From November 21, 2011 to May 21, 2012 have been recalled.
This recall came around the time after the FDA contacted Franck’s Pharmacy to notify them of fungal growth and microorganism that was present inside their clean room. The growth was discovered through a sampling of the clean room, and has resulted in the possibilities of a high risk infection.

In an attempt to stay on top of the situation, the company has recalled all veterinary sterile preparations that have been distributed and left their control. In fact, they were so concerned with the situation, that they have recalled all sterile preparations since November 21, 2011.

“If any of these sterile preparations remains under your control, it is essential that you do not use them and that employing appropriate practices, you destroy all such sterile preparations and all remaining portions of such sterile preparations.”

There is no doubt that the company is doing what they can to counteract these FDA findings, but when these kind of things happen, it should make you wonder what the FDA isn’t catching.

According to the press release, the recall should be carried out to the “User/Physician” level. Because the FDA will hold the company responsible for this recall, the company hopes that it’s public will work alongside them to help resolve the issue without any damages to be accountable for.
