Bextra Side Effects
There are adverse side effects associated with taking Bextra:

- Diarrhea

- Drowsiness
There are however more serious adverse effects of taking Bextra:

Some patients who had taken Bextra had been at an increased risk of heart attack, stroke and the risk of a serious and fatal skin reaction. Some patients were diagnosed with angina and Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Warnings & Recalls for Bextra
Before patients went on a possible Bextra regimen, it was indicated that there precautions and contraindications such as for the treatment of perioperative pain in a setting of a coronary artery bypass graft, or CAGB surgery. Patients who’ve got a history of peptic ulcer disease and/or gastrointestinal bleeding who have opted to take Bextra faced a greater than 10 fold increased risk of developing a gastrointestinal bleed compared to patients who haven’t got these risk factors. Other contraindications for patients who take NSAIDs include concurrent use of oral corticosteroids or anticoagulants, a longer duration of NSAID therapy, smoking, old age, alcohol use, and just poor health status.As of 2005, Bextra has been recalled by the FDA due to concerns about heart attacks and stroke.
Bextra Treatment and Use
Bextra | Valdecoxib is a drug that’s a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug or NSAID, primarily used in the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, menstrual symptoms and painful menstruation. Its drug classification is that of a cyclooxygenase-2 selective inhibitor. Bextra was manufactured and marketed in the US by G.D. Searle & Company, which is a subsidiary of Pfizer, and was approved by the FDA in November of 2001. It came in the form of a tablet. It was still in the market till 2005 until it had been removed due to concerns about heart attacks and stroke. This was a voluntary recall at the behest of the FDA.
