Claritin Treatment and Use
Claritin | Loratadine is a brand name antihistamine drug marketed by Schering-Plough HealthCare Products Inc. used for reducing the symptoms of seasonal allergies and preventing more serious medical conditions. Claritin can reduce common allergy side effects such as:
- Runny nose
- Congestion
- Watery eyes
- Sneezing or coughing
- Nasal, eye or throat itchiness
By relieving these symptoms promptly, patients are less likely to suffer from asthma or a sinus infection.
For patients with chronic skin reactions, Claritin can reduce severity of rash or hive symptoms.
How Does Claritin Work?
When your body encounters allergy-inducing substances it releases histamines, which are responsible for allergy symptoms such as swelling of the glands, causing a stuffy nose, or watering of the eyes. Claritin blocks histamine receptors and provides relief for these unwanted side effects.
