Overdose side effects:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center 1-800-222-1222 or emergency room immediately.
- confusion and unusual bleeding or bruising.
- shakiness and unsteady walk, clumsiness, unsteadiness, trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
- signs of numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in hands or feet
- fever, chills, or sore throat symptoms
- unusual movements of the eyes, double vision and pale skin
- peripheral numbness, reduced heartbeat and weakness
- trembling and reduced coordination and muscle control
- slurred speech and overactive reflexes
- Decreased or other change in vision and low body temperature
- unusual tiredness or weakness (severe) and shortness of breath or slow or troubled breathing
Severe side effects:
- skin rashes or hives while on this drug.
- unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness.
- sudden dizziness or faintness and unusual bleeding or bruising.
- Darkening of urine, itching, pale stools, yellow eyes or skin.
Common side effects:
- dizziness or light-headedness and nausea
- unpleasant aftertaste, vomiting and indigestion
- numbness of face and unusual tiredness or weakness
- blurred vision, stomach pains and low blood pressure
- confusion, being clumsy or unsteady and drowsy during the day

When taking Ethchlorvynol, the following should be considered:
- Inform your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to Ethchlorvynol or any other medicines. Also tell your healthcare professional if you have any other types of allergies such as foods, dyes, preservatives, or animals.
- The elderly may be specially sensitive to the effects of the drug and may increase the chances of side effects during treatment
- Also inform the doctor if you have medical problems such as alcohol abuse (or history of) or drug abuse or dependency, kidney disease, liver disease, mental depression, or porphyria.

Ethchlorvynol Treatment and Use
What is Ethchlovynol?
Ethchlorvynol is a sedative and hypnotic medication developed by Pfizer in the 1950s. In the United States Abbott Laboratories used to sell it under the trade-name Placidyl.
How does Ethcholvynol work?
Used to treat insomnia but is only offered where an intolerance or allergy to other drugs exists. Due to the addictive nature of the drug it is unusual for ethchlorvynol to be prescribed for more than 7 days. Prolonged used may cause withdrawal symptoms such as hallucinations, and memory loss.
Dosage information
To avoid any possibility of dizziness, clumsiness, unsteadiness its best to take ethcholvynol with food or a glass of milk. The amount that needs to be taken depends on the strength of the medicine and the number of doses that you have to take each day and the length of time that you take the medicine all depend on the medical problem for which the medicine is prescribed.
For adults the dosage can be 500 to 1000 milligrams at bedtime and for children the dosage must be determined by the doctor.
