Zemuron Treatment and Use
Zemuron | Rocuronium bromide is an injected medication used to aide tracheal intubation for for surgery or assisted breathing. This drug is often combined with general anesthesia or sedation during procedures. Patients who are administered Zemuron should be placed under constant medical supervision.
How does Zemuron work?
Zemuron competes with acetylcholine to block messages between the nerves and muscles, causing the patient to become temporarily paralyzed. It is used together with other anesthetics or methods or sedation to keep a patient stable during surgery.
This medication works rapidly, preventing a patient from gagging and allowing clinicians to quickly place a breathing tube in the trachea to assist breathing.
Zemuron Dosage Information
Doses of Zemuron are highly dependent on a patient’s body weight and the procedure being preformed on them. Maintenance doses and continuous doses may be required. Clinicians administering Zemuron should be able to constantly and monitor the effects of neuromuscular blocking agent and adjust doses as needed.
Doses are typically lowered when used in patients with cachexia, a neuromuscular disease, carcinomatosis, or other debilitating conditions.
